Premium Desert Safari Dubai: VIP Experience with Red Dunes, BBQ & Shows
About This Experience
What the premium desert safari actually includes
We've run our premium VIP safari for 1,600+ guests, and here's the short version: it's the same 6-7 hour evening safari as our regular package — dune bashing, camp activities, BBQ dinner, live shows — but with sofa seating in a quieter section of the camp, a bigger food selection, and no queues at the buffet.
Red dune bashing (25-30 minutes)
We drive about 45 minutes from Dubai to the Lahbab dunes. The sand here is red from iron oxide, which makes the dunes steeper than regular desert — that's what makes the ride intense. Our drivers spend 25-30 minutes navigating the red sand in a Land Cruiser, and we stop at a high dune for sunset photos. Our red dune bashing guide covers what to expect if you haven't done it before.
The premium camp difference
This is where Premium earns its name. Our insider guide has the full details, but the key differences:
- Sofa seating in a separate, quieter area — not cushions on the ground
- Wider food selection at the buffet, including more grilled dishes
- A live BBQ station where you can watch the food being prepared. Full menu details in our BBQ guide
- No queuing — you walk up to the buffet when you're ready
Live entertainment
Three shows run back-to-back during dinner — full entertainment guide here:
- Belly dance — about 15 minutes, traditional style
- Tanura show — a dancer spinning in colorful layered skirts, surprisingly hypnotic
- Fire show — the crowd favorite and the finale
Camp activities
Before dinner, you've got time for a short camel ride (about 5 minutes — the mounting is the fun part) and sandboarding on the red dunes. Henna painting and a shisha lounge are also available at the camp.
What to wear
Our full packing guide covers everything, but the short version: comfortable clothes, closed shoes, and bring a light jacket for after sunset. Temperatures drop about 10°C once the sun goes down.
Evening desert safari timing
This is an evening desert safari — we pick you up in the afternoon, and you're back at your hotel by 9-9:30pm. In winter (October to March), pickup is 2-3pm. In summer, it's 2:30-3:30pm. The best months are November through March when evening temperatures sit around 20-25°C. Summer safaris work too — by 5pm the heat's already dropping, and by dinner it's comfortable.
Premium vs standard — what's really different?
We get this question a lot. Our full comparison guide has all the details, but here's the quick version: both packages include the same dune bashing, the same desert activities, and the same live shows. Premium adds sofa seating, a bigger food selection, and no waiting in buffet lines. Couples and families who want a quieter evening tend to pick Premium. The camp gets busy around 7:30pm — Premium guests barely notice because they're in a separate area.
We also run standard evening desert safaris, desert safari with quad bike combos, and self-drive dune buggies if you're looking for a different kind of adventure.
What you get with our premium desert safari (and why 1,600+ guests rated it 4.8/5)
Our premium VIP safari is a 6-7 hour evening trip that covers dune bashing, desert activities, BBQ dinner, and live entertainment — same as our regular safari, but with sofa seating, a bigger menu, and no buffet queues. We handle pickup and drop-off from your hotel in Dubai, Sharjah, or Ajman.
Hotel pickup and drop-off
We collect you in a 4x4 (Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol) directly from your hotel. Pickup runs between 2-3pm in winter, 2:30-3:30pm in summer. You don't need to arrange transport — we come to you.
Our drivers and safety
All our safari drivers are licensed and trained for desert driving. Vehicles get daily safety checks. More on safari safety here.
Lahbab red dunes
We use the Lahbab Desert, about 45 minutes from Dubai. The sand is red from iron oxide in the soil, and the dunes are steeper than other desert areas around Dubai. Our red dune bashing guide explains what makes this location different.
What makes Premium different
Here's what you get that regular guests don't — our insider guide has all the details:
- Sofa seating in a separate area — away from the main camp crowds
- No queues at dinner — walk up to the buffet whenever you're ready
- More dishes on the menu, including extra grilled options
- Limited spots, so there are fewer people around you
Live entertainment
Three live shows run during dinner:
- Fire show — the crowd favorite, about 10 minutes
- Belly dance — traditional style, about 15 minutes
- Tanura show — a dancer spinning in colorful layered skirts
BBQ dinner
The BBQ buffet runs from about 7:30-9pm. Premium guests get a wider selection plus priority service — no standing in line. Both veg and non-veg options.
Desert activities
- Camel ride — about 5 minutes, handlers walk alongside
- Sandboarding — boards provided, works best on steeper dunes
- Henna painting — traditional designs that last about 2 weeks
- Sunset photos — we stop at a high dune around 5-5:30pm (winter)
Good for families and couples
We get a lot of families with kids on the premium safari — the sofa seating is easier for parents with young children, and the quieter camp area means less chaos during dinner. Kids love the camel ride and the fire show. If you're traveling with teenagers, the dune bashing and sandboarding keep them off their phones. Couples tend to prefer Premium too — the separate seating area feels more private than the main camp.
What to wear and when to go
Our packing guide covers clothing and gear. For timing, October through March is the sweet spot — comfortable temperatures all evening.
Why book with us
We're a direct operator, not a reseller. With 1,600+ premium bookings and a 4.8/5 rating, you're dealing directly with the team that runs the safari — no middleman markup. Check our price comparison guide to see how our rates stack up.
Also known as a VIP desert safari Dubai, our premium package gives you everything the standard evening safari includes — plus private sofa seating, a smaller group at camp, priority BBQ buffet, falcon photo session, and a dedicated camp host. If you have seen the standard safari on other sites and want something more exclusive, this is it.
This is the luxury desert safari Dubai option for visitors who want comfort without missing the adventure. You still get the 25-minute dune bashing run on the red dunes — the only difference is your camp experience is quieter, more private, and better-serviced.
