About This Experience
Two halves of Dubai in one day: the creek, the souks and the wind-tower lanes in the morning, then the red dunes at Lahbab in the afternoon. It works because the city tour half is four hours, not eight — you're back at your hotel around 1 PM, which is exactly when you need to be free for the safari pickup.
This is the pairing people search for and almost nobody sells as one booking. Booked separately, the timing usually collides: the full-day city tour returns between 4 and 5 PM and the desert safari leaves between 2 and 3 PM. We match the two pickups so that doesn't happen.
How the day runs, hour by hour

How the price works
One flat price covers your private vehicle and driver-guide for the whole day, up to six guests — that part does not change whether there are two of you or six. The evening safari is then added per person, at the Standard or Premium camp rate. Seven or more guests need a second vehicle, which is charged as a second vehicle.
What you get in the morning
A private air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver-guide, yours alone — no shared minibus and no fixed route. Al Fahidi, the abra crossing, the Gold and Spice Souks, and a run through Downtown past the Burj Khalifa. If you'd rather spend the whole morning in the souks, tell your guide and he'll rearrange it.
What you get in the evening
Hotel pickup in a 4x4, dune bashing over the Lahbab dunes, sandboarding, a camel ride, and the camp until about 9 PM: henna, Arabic coffee and dates, a BBQ dinner with vegetarian options, and tanoura and fire shows after dark. There's a washroom at the meeting point and toilets at the camp.
Be honest with yourself about the length
It's roughly twelve hours out. You'll walk souks in the morning heat and then get thrown around in a 4x4 in the afternoon. Plenty of people love that; some are finished by the fire show and wish they'd spread it over two days.
Skip the combined day if you're travelling with children under about six, if you get motion sick, or if you landed in Dubai that morning. Doing the city one day and the desert the next is easy to arrange, and both are better for it.
A couple of practical things
Bring a change of clothes — you'll pick up sand in the desert and you won't want to sit through dinner in the same shirt. The gap between the two halves is about an hour: enough to eat and change, not enough to add the Dubai Frame or an aquarium ticket on top. Don't plan anything into it. Itinerary
- Hotel Pickup
Your driver collects you from your hotel in Dubai, Sharjah, or Ajman. The drive to Old Dubai takes 20–40 minutes depending on where you are staying. AC and bottled water in the car.
- Al Fahidi Historic District
Narrow lanes and wind-tower houses from the 1800s — what Dubai looked like before the towers. Quietest and coolest at this hour, which is the main reason the morning start matters.
- Abra Across Dubai Creek
The wooden abra crossing costs AED 1 per person, cash only, and is still the best value in the city. It puts you on the far bank right by the souks.
- Gold Souk & Spice Souk
Over 300 shops in the Gold Souk. Your guide will point out which lanes are worth your time and where the fixed-price shops are.
- Downtown & Burj Khalifa
A drive-through past the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall with a photo stop. Entry tickets are not included — if you want to go up, book that on a separate day.
- Back at Your Hotel
The city tour ends here. Use the next hour to eat, shower and change into loose clothes for the desert.
- Desert Safari Pickup
A 4x4 collects you for the drive to Lahbab, about an hour out of the city. From April to September the pickup shifts to 2:30 – 3:30 PM.
- Dune Bashing
Around 20–30 minutes over the red dunes with a trained driver. Say so if you would prefer it gentler — the drivers do adjust.
- Camel Ride & Sandboarding
A short camel ride and as many runs down the dune on a board as you want. There is a washroom at the meeting point and toilets at the camp.
- At the Camp
Henna, Arabic coffee and dates. A falcon photo is available at the camp for a separate charge — it is not part of any package.
- BBQ Dinner & Shows
Grilled meats, salads and vegetarian options, then tanoura and fire shows once it is properly dark.
- Hotel Drop-off
