Dubai City Tour: Private Full-Day Sightseeing with Guide & Hotel Pickup
About This Experience
This is an 8-hour private tour of Dubai β just you, your group, and a driver-guide who knows the city inside out. No shared buses, no fixed schedule. You pick the start time, and the route adjusts to what you actually want to see.
The tour covers both sides of Dubai. The old side β Al Fahidi Historical District, the Gold Souk, the Spice Souk, and a ride across Dubai Creek on a traditional abra boat (AED 1 per person, cash only). The modern side β Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Sheikh Zayed Road with its wall of skyscrapers.
Most guests start with the souks in the morning when it's cooler and less crowded, then work south toward Downtown and the Marina. But it's your call. Want to skip the malls and spend more time in Old Dubai? Done. Want to add Dubai Frame (entry ticket not included)? Your guide will rearrange the day.
Here's what the day actually looks like, stop by stop:
Old Dubai β Where It All Started
Gold Souk & Spice Souk β Dubai's original markets. The Gold Souk has over 300 shops selling everything from simple chains to 5kg gold necklaces. The Spice Souk across the road smells like saffron and cardamom before you even walk in. Budget 30 minutes here, more if you like to haggle.
Jumeirah Mosque β One of the few mosques in Dubai open to non-Muslim visitors (guided tours run at 10am, Saturday to Thursday). Even if you don't go inside, the white stone facade is worth a photo stop.
Al Fahidi Historical District β Wind-tower houses from the 1800s, narrow walkways, and small museums. It's the quietest part of the tour and gives you a sense of what Dubai looked like before oil money arrived.
Modern Dubai β The Skyline Everyone Recognizes
Burj Khalifa & Downtown Dubai β The world's tallest building at 828 meters. Your guide drops you at the base for photos. The Dubai Fountain runs every 30 minutes from 6pm, so if your timing works, you'll catch a show. Photography tips for Burj Khalifa and other landmarks can help you get better shots.
Palm Jumeirah & Atlantis β You drive onto the Palm for a photo stop with Atlantis Hotel in the background. The monorail runs along the trunk if you want to ride it (separate ticket).
Burj Al Arab β Photo stop at the public beach nearby. It's the most photographed hotel in Dubai β the sail-shaped design is hard to miss.
Dubai Marina β A waterfront district with 200+ towers, a 7km promenade, and restaurants along the water. Good place for a lunch break if you're hungry.
Museum of the Future β The torus-shaped building on Sheikh Zayed Road. It opened in 2022 and has become one of Dubai's most recognizable structures. Entry ticket (AED 149) is separate.
Sheikh Zayed Road β Dubai's main 12-lane highway lined with towers, including Emirates Towers and the twisted Cayan Tower. Your guide points out the buildings as you drive.
Mall of the Emirates & Dubai Mall β Drive-through stops. Dubai Mall alone has 1,200+ stores and an aquarium. You won't have time to shop on the tour, but you'll know where to come back to.
Practical Details
Traveling with kids? Our family-friendly Dubai city tour guide covers age-appropriate stops, car seat availability, and which attractions work best for different age groups. For the best weather, check our month-by-month Dubai weather guide β November to March is ideal for outdoor sightseeing.
After your city tour, many guests add a desert safari with dune bashing and BBQ dinner or an Abu Dhabi day trip to see the Grand Mosque. Both pair well with the Dubai city tour since they cover completely different ground.
Hotel pickup and drop-off included from Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman. The vehicle is air-conditioned (critical in summer when it's 45Β°C outside). Your guide speaks English and can arrange photo stops anywhere along the route.
We've been running private city tours in Dubai since 2018, and here's what we've learned: every guest has a different idea of what they want from a full-day tour. Some want to photograph every skyscraper on Sheikh Zayed Road. Others want to spend two hours in the Gold Souk bargaining for jewelry. A few just want to sit in a quiet courtyard in Al Fahidi and soak it in.
That's why this tour is private. Your driver-guide works around your interests, not a fixed itinerary. The standard route covers both Old Dubai and Modern Dubai in about 8 hours, but the pacing is completely up to you.
What You'll Actually See
The tour typically starts in Deira or Bur Dubai (the historic districts), where you'll walk through the Gold Souk, Spice Souk, and cross Dubai Creek on a wooden abra. It's a AED 1 ride that gives you a view of the old waterfront most tourists photograph from the wrong angle.
From there, the route moves south toward Jumeirah β passing Jumeirah Mosque (one of the few open to non-Muslim visitors), Jumeirah Beach with its Burj Al Arab backdrop, and the coastal road that connects old Dubai to new Dubai.
The second half covers the heavy hitters: Palm Jumeirah (photo stop at Atlantis), Dubai Marina (200+ towers along a man-made canal), Museum of the Future, Burj Khalifa area, and Dubai Mall. Your guide will time the route so you're near Downtown Dubai around sunset when the fountains run β the water show happens every 30 minutes after 6pm and it's free.
Who Books This Tour
About 40% of our Dubai city tour guests are families with kids who don't want to deal with tour buses. Another 30% are couples on short Dubai layovers (1-3 days) who want to cover the highlights efficiently. The rest are solo travelers, photographers, and people looking for hidden gems beyond the standard landmarks.
If you're not sure whether Dubai or Abu Dhabi should get your full day, read our Dubai vs Abu Dhabi comparison. Short answer: Dubai is better for shopping, skyline photos, and modern architecture. Abu Dhabi is better for cultural sites, especially the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Before You Book
Entry tickets aren't included β Burj Khalifa At The Top costs AED 169-399 depending on the level, Dubai Frame is AED 50, and Museum of the Future is AED 149. Most guests pick one or two paid attractions and do the rest as photo stops. Your guide handles navigation and parking so you don't waste time.
The vehicle fits up to 6 passengers comfortably. Pickup runs from Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman hotels. If you're staying in Abu Dhabi, our Abu Dhabi city tour is a better fit. For photography tips specific to city tour stops, we've got a separate guide with angles and timing for each landmark.
Our Dubai city tour package covers all of Dubai's top landmarks in a single full-day private tour. You get a dedicated driver and English-speaking guide, door-to-door hotel pickup, and a flexible itinerary. Unlike bus tours, you set the pace β spend more time at the spots you love, skip the ones you don't.
Half Day Dubai City Tour β 4-Hour Morning Option
Short on time? We offer a half day Dubai city tour covering Old Dubai and Downtown in 4 hours. The morning route includes Al Fahidi Historic District, Dubai Creek abra ride, Gold Souk, and a drive through Downtown past Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall.
We recommend the full day if it is your first time in Dubai. The half day skips Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and the newer areas.

- Al Fahidi Historic District
Start in Old Dubai at the Al Fahidi neighborhood. Narrow lanes, wind-tower houses from the 1800s, and a feel of what Dubai looked like before the skyscrapers. Good photo spot in the mornings when it's quieter.

Hop on a traditional wooden abra boat to cross the Creek. It's a 2-minute ride that costs AED 1. You'll see dhows (old trading ships) docked along the waterfront.
- Gold Souk & Spice Souk
Walk through the covered Gold Souk β hundreds of shops with gold jewelry in every window. Then through the Spice Souk next door where you can buy saffron, frankincense, and dried fruits. Haggling is expected here.
- Jumeirah Mosque (Photo Stop)
Stop at Jumeirah Mosque, one of the few mosques in Dubai open to non-Muslim visitors (tours run at 10 AM, Sat-Thu). Even from outside, the white stone facade is worth photos.
- Jumeirah Beach & Burj Al Arab
Drive along Jumeirah Beach Road with views of the coastline. Your driver stops near the Burj Al Arab β the sail-shaped hotel β for photos. The public beach across from it is one of the best free photo angles.
- Palm Jumeirah & Atlantis
Drive onto the Palm Jumeirah, the man-made island shaped like a palm tree. Photo stop at the Atlantis Hotel at the crescent. You can see the Arabian Gulf on both sides of the monorail track from here.
- Dubai Marina
Pass through Dubai Marina β the waterfront neighborhood with 200+ high-rises, restaurants at the marina walk, and yachts docked along the promenade. Your guide can stop if you want to walk around or grab lunch here.

- Sheikh Zayed Road & Museum of the Future
Drive down Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai's main highway lined with skyscrapers on both sides. Pass the Museum of the Future β the torus-shaped building covered in Arabic calligraphy. Your driver slows down for photos.
- Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa & Dubai Mall
Arrive at Downtown Dubai. Walk around the Burj Khalifa base β 828 meters tall, you can't see the top without tilting your head back. The Dubai Mall entrance is right here if you want to browse. Fountain shows run every 30 min from 6 PM, but the lake area is nice even during the day.
- Dubai Frame (Photo Stop)
Pass by Dubai Frame in Zabeel Park β a 150-meter tall gold picture frame. Great photo from outside. Entry is AED 50 if you want to go up (not included in tour, but your guide can wait).
- Hotel Drop-off
Your driver takes you back to your hotel. The return trip is usually 20-40 minutes. If you started later in the day, your tour wraps up later β the 8 hours are yours to use however you want.
