Desert Safari Dubai from Sharjah: Pickup Options & Best Package

Desert Safari Dubai from Sharjah: Pickup Options & Best Package

We get this question on WhatsApp almost every day: "We're staying in Sharjah — can you still pick us up?" Yes. Hotel pickup and drop-off from Sharjah is included on our safari packages, exactly the same as for guests staying in Dubai. Book a desert safari from Sharjah and the price you see at checkout is what you pay. No transfer surcharge, no meeting point, no taxi across the border. Your driver comes to your hotel lobby.

The worry makes sense. Most safari operators are based in Dubai, and plenty of OTA listings say "Dubai hotels only" in the fine print. So people staying at a Sharjah hotel assume they'll have to make their own way to Dubai first. With us, you don't. Sharjah pickup covers the evening safari, the premium safari, the quad bike combo, and the morning safari. Ajman works the same way.

The only products that don't include pickup are the self-drive dune buggy and standalone quad bike sessions, where guests meet us at the desert base. More on that further down. First, the practical stuff: how the Sharjah pickup loop works, how far the dunes actually are, and which package makes sense for your group.

How Sharjah Pickup Works

When you book, you enter your hotel name or address in the pickup field. Apartment buildings and residences are fine too; you don't need to be in a hotel. Whether you're on the Corniche, in Al Majaz, or out in a residential block in Al Khan, if it's a Sharjah address, we come to it.

Your driver messages you on WhatsApp to confirm the exact pickup time, usually the morning of the trip. If your building has more than one entrance, tell him which lobby or gate. That one detail saves ten minutes of circling and phone calls while your neighbours watch a Land Cruiser do laps of the block.

Pickup is in a shared 4x4, a Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol. It's the same vehicle that does the dune bashing later, so you're with your safari driver from the moment you leave the hotel. Be in the lobby about ten minutes before your confirmed slot; the driver calls when he's close.

One thing we'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out at 10 PM: Sharjah guests ride the same pickup loop as guests staying in Dubai. In practice, that means you're usually collected a bit earlier than someone staying in Downtown, and dropped home a bit later at night. The desert part of the day is identical — same dune bashing, same camp, same dinner — but budget a slightly longer door-to-door day than the headline duration on the package page.

If that's a dealbreaker, there's a private car upgrade. Your group gets its own vehicle for up to 6 guests, door-to-door on your own schedule, with no other pickups before or after yours. Families with a toddler's bedtime to protect take this option a lot, and so do groups who've got a late dinner booked back in Sharjah. The current rate shows on the package page when you add it at checkout.

How Far Is the Desert from Sharjah?

Our safaris run at the Lahbab red dunes, the iron-oxide sand about 45 minutes from Downtown Dubai. From Sharjah city it's a similar run down the desert highway. You clear the urban traffic, the buildings thin out, and the last stretch is open road with camel-crossing signs and dunes building on both sides. Kids tend to go quiet around the point the sand turns orange.

Everyone's heard about Dubai–Sharjah traffic, and yes, it's real, but it's worst for commuters at rush hour, and your driver plans the loop around it. That's part of why pickup times are confirmed on the day rather than fixed weeks in advance: the driver sets your slot based on where you are and what the roads are doing.

Once your 4x4 leaves the tarmac at Lahbab, the driver deflates the tyres for sand driving and the dune bashing starts. If you're curious about the area itself — why the sand is red, what else is out there — we've covered where the Lahbab dunes are in a separate post.

Staying in Dubai instead? We've written the same guide for other neighbourhoods: there's a Marina pickup guide and a JBR pickup guide with the pickup windows for those areas.

Which Package Makes Sense from Sharjah

All four of our main safari packages include Sharjah pickup at no extra cost. Here's how we'd talk you through it if you called us:

Evening desert safari. The default choice, and what most Sharjah guests book. Afternoon pickup, 25–30 minutes of dune bashing, a sunset photo stop on a high dune, then the camp: camel ride, sandboarding, henna, BBQ buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and three live shows. Dubai guests are usually dropped off around 9:30 PM; from Sharjah, expect to walk into your hotel a little after that. If it's your first time in the UAE, this is the one.

Premium desert safari. Same itinerary as the evening safari, but you get sofa seating in a quieter section of the camp and priority at the buffet, so no queuing with a plate while the belly dance starts. Worth the upgrade if you're travelling with grandparents, or if you've seen photos of the main camp in peak season and thought "that looks like a lot of people." It is. December evenings get busy.

Desert safari with quad bike. The evening safari plus 30 minutes on a 250cc quad before the dune bashing. The quad session runs in the pre-sunset light, which happens to be when the dunes photograph best. Pick this if someone in your group will sulk without engine time. Helmets, goggles, and gloves are provided.

Morning safari. For early risers, or anyone whose evenings in Sharjah are already spoken for. The morning desert safari Dubai picks up between 6:00 and 7:00 AM in winter, or 5:00 to 6:00 AM in summer, and has you back before lunch. It's priced per vehicle rather than per person (your own 4x4 for up to 6 guests), so a Sharjah family of five isn't sharing with strangers. You get dune bashing, sandboarding, and a short camel ride, but no BBQ dinner. That's evening-only.

One caveat. Our self-drive dune buggy and standalone quad bike sessions don't include hotel pickup from anywhere, Sharjah included. For those, you drive yourself to the desert base (there's free parking, and we share the exact location after booking) or add the private car transfer at checkout.

What the Evening Safari Includes (Quick Recap)

The full inclusion list lives on the package page, but here's the short version of what a Sharjah pickup gets you on the standard evening safari:

  • 25–30 minutes of dune bashing in a 4x4 Land Cruiser on the Lahbab red dunes
  • Sunset photo stop at a high dune (around 5:30 PM in winter, later in summer)
  • Short camel ride and sandboarding at the camp, boards provided
  • BBQ buffet dinner with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options
  • Three live shows: tanoura, fire show, and belly dance
  • Unlimited water, soft drinks, tea and Arabic coffee, plus henna and shisha at the camp

Fair warning: you will get dusty. Sand finds its way into shoes, pockets, and phone cases no matter how careful you are, so wear things you don't mind shaking out on the hotel balcony later. Closed shoes beat sandals for the sandboarding.

A quick packing note for the ride out from Sharjah: sunglasses and sunscreen year-round, and a light jacket between November and February, because the desert cools off fast once the sun drops and the drive home in a 4x4 feels colder than the camp did. In summer, drink water on the way out; the camp has unlimited drinks, but the dune bashing comes first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you pick up from Sharjah hotels?

Yes. All our safari packages (evening, premium, quad combo, and morning) include hotel pickup and drop-off from Sharjah, plus Dubai and Ajman. Residences and apartment buildings work too. Enter your address when booking and your driver confirms the exact time on WhatsApp.

What time is pickup from Sharjah?

For the evening safari, the pickup loop starts around 3:00–3:30 PM, and Sharjah guests are usually collected on the earlier side of that window. For the morning safari, it's 6:00–7:00 AM in winter and 5:00–6:00 AM in summer. Your driver confirms your exact slot the morning of the trip, so keep your phone on and be in the lobby ten minutes early.

Is pickup from Sharjah extra?

No. Sharjah pickup is included in the listed price on all our safari packages. The exceptions are the self-drive dune buggy and standalone quad bike sessions, which never include pickup regardless of where you stay. For those, you drive to the desert base or add a private transfer.

How much does a desert safari cost from Sharjah?

The same as from Dubai — there's no Sharjah surcharge. Rates vary by package and season, so check the live desert safari Dubai price list for current numbers rather than trusting a screenshot from last year.

Can we get a private car from Sharjah?

Yes. The private car upgrade gives your group its own vehicle, up to 6 guests, from your Sharjah address, door-to-door with no shared loop. You'll leave later, get home earlier, and set your own pace. Add it at checkout, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll sort it out.
